"The Greatest Light Show on Earth"

Films: Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)

Alias: None

Type: Alien

Location: Desert/Eldritch Location

Height/Weight: Varies across aliens, tallest is that of an average human.

Affiliation: Neutral, leaning on Good

Summary: A close encounter of the third kind is when there is actual contact between a person and an alien. The folks in Wyoming certainly had one for themselves when these guys showed up to check us all out.

History: Many have claimed to have seen the craft of these aliens. Some have even been abducted by them. But others are driven to obsession by the very sight of them. All who see them are compelled to go on a journey to the Devil's Tower in Wyoming, where they will come again. The military is also interested, but for purely diplomatic reasons. And the only way anyone can communicate with them is through specific sounds, like music.

Notable Kills: None.

Final Fate: The alien mothership makes landfall at the Devil's Tower, and those they abducted are brought back, having not aged a single year. After one man willingly comes with them, the aliens peacefully leave the planet.

Powers/Abilities: Come with hypnotic powers that makes others obsessed with them.

Weakness: Unknown.

Scariness Factor: 2-Admittingly, the idea of being abducted for unknown reasons is pretty frightening, but these aliens ultimately meant well, and are kind enough to return their captives. The actual aliens are completely non-threatening in appearance, and their ships are less imposing and more spectacular in how they light up the sky. The mothership itself is basically a giant lit-up city in the sky.

Trivia: -The mothership was going to look more imposing, but Spielberg wanted to emulate a lit-up Indian power plant he once saw.

-Some have alluded this film to a metaphor for Judeo-Christian myth. Think about it, Devil's Tower is Mount Sinai, the aliens are God, and the man they take is Moses.

Something's going down. Something beautiful.

Okay. I can see why the government was hesitant.

I know you're good, but WATCH THE ROAD!

"Reach for the giant disco ball in the sky!"

Holy. Slag.

Congrats. This is scary officially.

After all these entires, I'd say we're a needle in the haystack.
